Heritage Frontier Ancestor Detector Requirement #14

This might be a good start to fulfill Requirement #14:  Using the internet or at a library, learn how to do genealogical research.

"The USGenWeb Project consists of a group of volunteers working together to provide Internet websites for genealogical research in every county and every state of the United States. The Project is non-commercial and fully committed to free access for everyone."

Heritage Frontier Ancestor Detector Requirement #3

Requirement #3: Discover a game from the past and play it with a friend.

PDF of Colonial Children's Games

HistoryLives.com is a store, but it has good descriptions and pictures of games from the Colonial Period.

HistoricalToymaker.com has good directions for the game of "Graces, as wells as other games.

You can make your own version of the game of "Graces" using 9 to 12 inch plastic or wooden embroidery hoop (the part without the screw), four dowel rods (approximately 12 to 18 inches long) and some ribbon (optional).

You can use as is or wrap the hoop with the ribbon. Leave some "tails" when you are done wrapping. Begin playing.

What is American Heritage Girls?

If you have girls ages 5-18, I would highly recommend American Heritage Girls.

So what is American Heritage Girls?
From their website: "American Heritage Girls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. The organization offers badge programs, service projects, girl leadership opportunities and outdoor experiences to its members. This program of character building has successfully served thousands of girls since its inception and will continue to do so long into the 21st century."

From my girls: It is fun. I love getting the badges and doing service projects.

If you would like more information about American Heritage Girls or would like to find a troop, check out their website.

If you live in Florida, there is a Facebook page for AHG.
